Holiday Water Damage

If you are planning on travelling this holiday season, be sure to prep your home properly before leaving.

The holiday season brings with it many opportunities for property damage.  We talk often about fire dangers from cooking and holiday decorations, but there is also a spike in water damages during this time.  As millions of Americans take to the skies and roadways travelling near and far to gather with friends and family, they leave their homes vacant.  If left unattended, even small problems can become big disasters.  There are some simple steps you can take to protect your home when you are planning on being away. 

• Clean out gutters.
• Turn off the main water supply to your home.
• Make sure to flush toilets to empty the bowl (if you live in an area that freezes).
• Trim back trees and remove any dead branches.
